GOLDFIELD....... ??????

WRITTEN BY REX
Custom Smiley I HAVE BEEN TEASING MARY ABOUT STOPPING IN GOLDFIELD, NEVADA FOR SOME GHOST HUNTING WITHOUT HER……………..

I’LL START THE STORY FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVE A GREAT ADVANTAGE IN HAVING STEVE AS MY NEIGHBOR EVERY WINTER. THE THINGS HE’S TAUGHT ME ABOUT THE FULLTIME RV LIFE HAVE BEEN LIFE SAVERS. WHEN I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO PAHRUMP FOR A FEW DAYS AND THAT MY NEXT STOP WAS GOING TO BE GOLDFIELD……………. HE SIMPLY ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME, “NO YOUR NOT ! YOU’LL END UP IN TONOPAH PARKED BEHIND THE SADDLE WEST CASINO.”

STEVE IS A WISE OLE MAN. TODAY’S BLOG IS COMING TO YOU FROM BEHIND THE SADDLE WEST CASINO IN TONOPAH, NEVADA. I KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A TUFF TRAVEL DAY, WHEN I CLICKED ONTO THE INTERNET AND SAW A STORM SYSTEM COMING ACROSS NORTHERN NEVADA AND CURRENT CONDITIONS AT CARSON CITY WERE LIGHT SNOW. THEY WERE CALLING FOR SNOW DOWN TO 4000 FEET, AND MY MOUNTAIN PASS OF THE DAY WAS AT GOLDFIELD, JUST OVER 6000 FEET.

JUST BEFORE MY ASCENT TO THE MOUNTAIN PASS, TRAFFIC CAME TO DEAD STOP. IN THE DISTANCE I COULD SEE A MEDICAL EVAC HELICOPTER CIRCLE AND LAND. IT WAS A HORRIBLE 3 CAR ACCIDENT WHICH CAUSED A BACKUP OF TRAFFIC FOR 4 MILES BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH ON THE 95. DURING MY HOUR AND HALF SIT, THE SKY BECAME DARKER AND DARKER AS A STORM CELL CLEARED THE MOUNTAINS, IT BECAME FREEZING COLD (I WAS IN SHORTS AND A T-SHIRT) AND RAIN POUNDED THE WINDOWS. DURING THE HOUR AND HALF THE STORM CELL CAME AND WENT LEAVING BEHIND THE DESERT WIND FOR ME TO BATTLE BUT NO SNOW.

COMING UP OVER THE PASS INTO GOLDFIELD TRAFFIC WAS STILL SNARLED, EVERY SIDE STREET IN TOWN WAS DUG UP FOR UTILITY WORK, IT STARTED SPITTING SNOW FLAKES, THERE WAS A 30 MPH CROSS WIND, AND THE RV PARK ON 4TH STREET WAS AN ABANDONED OLD TRAILER PARK AND MIGHTY SCARY LOOKING. YUP THERE ARE GHOSTS IN GOLDFIELD AND TODAY THEY WERE MIGHTY PISSED OFF!!! NO PLACE FOR A “HAPPY CAMPER”, GET ME DOWN INTO THE NEXT VALLEY!
