You Better Belize It !!! (Part 2)

....we stayed at Coral Bay Villas and this is the view off the balcony. These trees are new since hurricane Kieth took the old ones, about 2000. Amazing how big they are........

...........you never saw the inside of Coral Bay. It was the prototype design for Belizean Shores, 8 units as a model for a 48 unit resort. Note the woodwork and detail is beautiful, very similar and looks great after 10 years of rentals.............

.......the beach looks better than it ever has, due to some retaining walls that were added. A word about beaches in Belize. Belize is protected by the second largest barrier reef in the world, about 1000 yards offshore of this island. As a result, there are no pounding waves. Pounding waves are necessary for a clean and beautiful beach like we are used to seeing in tropical paradises, but they are not in Belize. Inside the reef, the water is calm and plants like turtle grass grow on the bottom. The gentle waves and tides continually wash the dead grass up on the beach and it continually has to be cleaned up. A pounding surf prevents plant life like that on the bottom, resulting in a pristine looking sugar sand beach............

...Coral Bay from the end of the neighbor's dock...........
