WEATHER FORECAST

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 3 p.m. today through 6 p.m. Tuesday.

A winter storm is expected to bring up to 5 to 10 inches snow to the area starting tonight and continuing through Tuesday. Some blowing and drifting also is likely as winds increase to 15 to 25 mph later tonight and Tuesday morning.

The snow is expected to spread into the area later this afternoon and become heavy overnight and into Tuesday morning before ending Tuesday afternoon. Today’s high should be near 29, according to the Weather Service forecast.

Tuesday’s high is expected to be near 28.

Party sunny skies are forecast for Wednesday, with a high near 15, before a slight chance of snow returns Thursday and Friday.

Across the state, forecasters are predicting a major winter storm could dump more than a foot of snow in some areas by Tuesday night.

Heavy snow is expected in central, northern, western and eastern Wisconsin beginning tonight and ending Tuesday night. Mixed precipitation, changing to all snow later is likely for southeast Wisconsin, where 3 to 6 inches of snow could fall.

The National Weather Service predicted up to 14 inches of snow in the Fox Valley and Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties.

Increasing north winds are expected to bring considerable blowing and drifting Tuesday.
