FITBIT MANIACS

ATTENTION: FITBIT MANIACS

THE FITBIT DAILY STEP RECORD WAS 27,000 + STEPS HELD BY UNCLE NEIL WHEN HE WAS AT A CONFERENCE IN SAN DIEGO. AT THAT TIME I SAID YOU WOULD HAVE TO WALK 15 MILES IN ONE DAY TO BREAK HIS RECORD. AMY CAME CLOSE A COUPLE WEEKS BACK WITH 25,733 STEPS IN A SINGLE DAY, AND LAURA HAD A DAY AT 23,191 STEPS RECENTLY.

UNCLE NEIL RAISES THE BAR, AND SETS A NEW DAILY STEP RECORD WHILE HIKING THE STRIP IN LAS VEGAS WITH 34,299 STEPS. THAT’S 15.7 MILES, SO NOW YOU HAVE TO WALK 16 MILES IN A SINGLE DAY TO BREAK THE RECORD!

GOOD JOB UNCLE NEIL !!! OUT OF THREE GENERATIONS IN THE FITBIT GAME IT’S INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT NEIL HOLDS THE RECORD AT AGE 62.

HERE S A LOOK AT THE TOP 7 FRIENDS ON MY LIST OUT OF 12.

Weather Warning

By Uncle Hans

Two identical and beautiful 6-inch snows in 48 hours.  It had been a "dryer" than usual year, but now we have caught up.  First thing to do is to go to happy hour at  Snag's.

WARNING:

Happy hour, Friday afternoon

6 inches of fresh powder

fresh grooming

This may be a combination that is more fun than is recommended for someone our age!!

......the next thing to do is to blow the snow .......TWICE.  But I enjoy it and pretty much do the whole neighborhood.  There is getting to be a lack of space to stack the damned stuff....

...........the last thing to do is sit by the fire with a cold Milwaukee's Best Light and feel sorry for all my friends in Florida, Texas, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Arizona because they miss this....

Coyote

By Uncle Hans

Came home from Snag's and just got settled into the house, when I heard a shout from Renee, "You gotta see this!!"

Looked at it for a moment when she suggested, "You should shoot it".  Bear in mind, I'm not even sure which end of the gun to hold.....

It was wandering slowly along the shoreline.......... and looked sick and thin.

I was actually buck-assed naked.  Had to find shoes, run out into the garage and find the shells, run back into the house and find the OD's plinker varmint piece, run outside at 10 degrees (still in just shoes).

Got the first round into the chamber just as she got to the boatlift.  Put the cross-hairs on her heart and squeezed the trigger.  She flinched, but kept walking.  I fumbled another round into the chamber (It has a clip, but no time to fill it).  I squeezed off another round.....clean miss.  She kept ambling, not running.  I dropped the third shell into the snow (only grabbed three).  I plucked it out of the snow and loaded it.  By now she was over by the big spruce tree in front and I was at the top of the steps to the lake.  I put the crosshairs on her chest again and fired.  She flinched again, but kept walking.  I was going to have to run out on the lake in just shoes and wrestle her to death, I guess.

.........But then she toppled over......

Renee could not resist a picture to prank her family, they loved it!

You can see a little blood on her chest over her heart so one or both of those rounds hit home.  I guess the OD's old .22 hasn't got much stopping power!!

This last picture shows her tracks along the shoreline.  If you look close, she did briefly reverse course after the first shot, then turned and resumed plodding along the shore.  the second shot was off the picture.

Apparently, there is no season on coyote in Wisconsin and the consensus at the bar is that they should be shot on sight.  She was probably a yearling, had not done very well hunting during a somewhat harsh winter, was very hungry and possible sick, and shooting her was a good choice.

It was, however, the first time I had killed anything of consequence with a gun and I still feel a little funny.....

FITBIT STATS

IT’S BEEN EXACTLY ONE YEAR SINCE I STARTED CARRYING MY FITBIT IN MY POCKET EVERYDAY. MY GOAL WAS WEIGHT LOSS, AND I LOST THE 40 POUNDS IN ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS.

fitbit

ALONG WITH THE PEDOMETER YOU GET THE FITBIT SOFTWARE WHERE YOU CAN TRACK MANY THINGS, INCLUDING CALORIES, SLEEP, WATER, EXERCIZE, AND OF COURSE STEPS.

ANOTHER FUN FEATURE IS THE “FRIENDS” OPTION WHERE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER THROUGH THE FITBIT SOFTWARE. YOU CAN SEE EACH OTHERS STEP COUNT FOR THE LAST SEVEN DAYS, CHALLENGE EACH OTHER TO STEP COUNT CONTEST, SEND EACH OTHER NOTES AND ENCOURAGEMENTS, AND FITBIT AWARDS YOU DIFFERENT DIGITAL MERIT BADGES. MY “FRIENDS” LISTS INCLUDES MY THREE GRANDSONS WHO LIVE IN HAWAII.

OK HERE COMES THE BIG NUMBER, 4,324,115 STEPS IN A YEAR. THAT’S 2,034 MILES. THAT’S AN AVERAGE OF 11,847 STEPS A DAY, OR JUST OVER 5 MILES A DAY.

THERE IS SOME SERIOUS STEPPAGE GOING ON OUT THERE !!!
