South Padre Island Spring '19
By Uncle Hans
It's been a long time since Uncle Hans submitted a blog. We just spent our usual 2 weeks on South Padre for March. Just like at home, I like to start my day watching the sun come up out of the hot tub.....
..... We usually catch the last few days of Spring break, just as the weather is warming up......
..... The kids always provide entertainment. This sign was over the urinal at Clayton's beach bar. I can often catch a volleyball game or two.....
..... This was some sort of kite festival...... Not too hard to pick out the winner.....
..... Our Florence property looks like it has been through a war...... But it is just a face lift. Should be done in another month just in time for high season.....
..... I found this gorgeous church wall mural while hunting for Rex's secret Port Isabel shrimp outlet. It is hidden on a back street and it reaches out and grabs you and makes you stand and look at it for a few minutes. Art doesn't usually move me, but you would have to be braindead to walk by these life size and stunning painted images, and not stop to stare......
..... Renee and I found this on a walk. Don't remember seeing one before. Turns out it is a Yucca plant flower.....
....... This has happened to me before on Padre. Is so much fun to walk the beach that I take too many steps the first day. It looks bad, but it heals up in a day or two......
........ Renee found this in the bathroom. I never knew it was possible to scream something to death, but it works.....
...... No trip to Progresso, Mexico is complete without the obligatory stop at the Red Panty Saloon.....
...... This old Mexican guards the door to the saloon above the Galleria, where we go to listen to the music and do some dancing.....
.......Rex and Mary introduced us to Jack's Coconut Bar at sunset time......
......We happened to catch a beautiful sunset. We will catch several more with Rex and Mary in October!
