RESTED

WE SEEMED TO BE RESTED UP FROM ALL THE COMPANY LAST WEEK. WE HAVE A JENGA PARTY ON THE SCHEDULE, SEEMS THE NEIGHBORS MISSED LAST WEEKS GAMES WHILE WE HAD COMPANY, AND SET A TIME AND PLACE.

THE MONSOON RAINS RETURNED WITH AFTERNOON SHOWERS, AND IT WAS NICE THAT THEY SKIPPED A FEW DAYS LAST WEEK.

WE’VE STARTED THE PLANS FOR OUR TEXAS TRIP COMING UP AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, AND PLAN TO SPEND THE MONTH OF OCTOBER ON THE BEACH.

THE “TO DO LIST” IS STILL SETTING ON MY DESK, BUT I DID WAX THE PICK-UP THIS WEEK, SO THINGS ARE SLOWLY GETTING CROSSED OFF.

THE PARK OWNERS ARE REMOVING CABLE TV AS BEING INCLUDED IN THE ANNUAL RENT, SO ADD $62/MONTH TO OUR EXSPENSES FOR NEXT YEAR.

THERE ARE LOTS OF UNITS FOR SALE THIS FALL, SO IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A RETIREMENT PLACE, COME ON OVER AND PICK ONE OUT.

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure

When Heather said her and her family were coming to AZ for vacation, I started thinking about sites for them to see and things for them to do.  A month or so ago I was at a wine tasting and started chatting with a lady from Phoenix.  I told her about my daughter’s upcoming visit and that I was looking for things they would have fun doing.  She told me about an obstacle course in the trees located in Flagstaff.  The place is called Flagstaff Extreme Adventure.

I thought this would be more legible, guess not, but essentially it tells the rules and guidelines of the course.  It also tells the the course consists of 6 levels, starting with green and ending with black.  The guides mentioned that only 20% of people get to the black level and only 10% finish the course.

Here is everyone getting harnessed up.

Everyone paying close attention to instructions given by Mikey, one of the guides.  Believe me it was a good thing they were paying attention!

This is the beginning of the practice course…it’s mostly a chance for everyone to get used to the equipment.

RJ getting a harness adjustment from Mikey.  RJ was the only one that had to use the kids course, which consisted of 12 different challenges.  He could do this course 3 times.  All the kids doing the kids course have to have an adult with them so that was my job since everyone else took off to do the adult course.

RJ just jumped right in.

RJ hooking his carbineer's.  He really paid attention during the instructions and I only had to remind a couple of times to put them opposite.  Loved the look of concentration on his face.

Except for the 2 zip lines on RJ’s course, RJ had his arms in the air the whole time.  He didn’t seem to get tired, although my arms were tired just watching him.

Guess I will end this blog with the kids course, tomorrow on to the adult course otherwise it will be way too long.

Oh and I sent the lady that told me about Flagstaff Extreme Adventure a thank you card.  She did us a great favor!

THE VACATION COMES TO AN END

THE BESL VACATION CAME TO AN END, AFTER THE 1503 MILE TRIP BACK TO LA CROSSE.  I’M SURE THERE ARE SOME LAZY CAMPERS LAYING AROUND HOME TODAY DREADING MONDAY MORNING AND THE RETURN TO WORK.

THEY SPENT ONE DAY AT THE FLAGSTAFF EXTREME ADVENTURE PARK WHERE THEY WORKED THEIR WAY THRU THE TREE TOPS ON A VARIETY OF ZIP LINES, WIRES, BRIDGES, ETC. MARY POSTED A FEW PICTURES ON FACEBOOK. MARY MAY DO A BLOG LATER, AS OUR CAMERA WAS FULL FROM HORSEBACK RIDING AND THE LAPTOP HAD A MELT DOWN SO WE COULDN’T UNLOAD THE PICTURES.

WE BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP, A BACK TO SCHOOL SPECIAL AT WALMART, AND NOW WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE WINDOWS 8.

THE CREW ALSO VISITED THE GRAND CANYON, MARY AND I WERE HOME RESTING UP.

THERE WERE A FEW TEARS ON DEPARTURE, NOBODY WANTS THEIR VACATION TO END, AND IT WILL BE NEXT SUMMER BEFORE THEY GET TO SEE GRANDMA AGAIN.

THANKS TO THE LACROSSE CREW FOR COMING TO VISIT IN ARIZONA, YOU MADE GRANDMA VERY HAPPY AND PROUD!

PETRIFIED FOREST

OUR FIRST ROAD TRIP WAS TO THE PETRIFIED FOREST AND THE PAINTED DESERT. THE KIDS THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE HIKING ON THE MOON.

YOU CAN SEE A MONSOON RAIN OFF IN THE DISTANCE. WE WERE LUCKY AND IT WENT AROUND US. MY PEDOMETER SAID WE HIKED ABOUT FOUR MILES THRU THE MOONSCAPE.

THE KIDS WOULDN’T GIVE UP UNTIL THEY CAPTURED A DESERT LIZARD.
