THE SUMMER OF ‘69
REMEMBER THE SUMMER OF 1969? THE MUSIC, THE HIPPIES, AND MAN WALKING ON THE MOON? WHERE WERE YOU THAT NIGHT OF THE FULL MOON WHEN NEIL ARMSTRONG MADE THAT SMALL STEP FOR MANKIND?
FORTY YEARS AGO……….
THE SUMMER OF 1969 IS THE MARKETING THEME FOR FREEMONT STREET AND DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. FROM THE MAIN STAGE BY THE FOUR QUEENS WITH “BOBBY MAGEE”, TO THE WORLD’S LARGEST VIDEO SCREEN OVERHEAD PROCLAIMING “THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED”.
HALFWAY UP THE STREET IS UNCLE HANS’ FAVORITE SAXOPHONE PLAYER PLAYING HIS HEART OUT, AMONG THE SPRAY PAINT ARTISTS CREATING MOONSCAPES.
A SLIPPERY VEGAS MAGICIAN DOING CARD TRICKS WITH HIS DOG IN FRONT OF THE VEGAS CLUB, AND ANOTHER BAND STANDING ON THIER HIPPIE SCHOOL BUS AND ROCK’IN OUT. YOU COULD ALMOST SMELL THE POT FLOATING ACROSS THE GENERATIONS FROM WOODSTOCK AND THE ROCK CONCERT AT WADENA.
WE WILL BE BACK THIS SUMMER FOR MORE OF THE SUMMER OF 1969. ALL OF OUR GENERATION WILL APPRECIATE OUR DESIRE TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE MORE OF THAT!!
