Got Gas?
By Uncle Hans
It's been a while since there has been a blog from Cable Lake. Not much happening here. But something newsworthy happened last week. For the last three years I have been trying to get natural gas extended to our house. It is about half the price of propane, because of all the "frack" drilling across the country. The gas companies have more gas than they can sell. It has cause a lot of good in this country, employed a lot of people and, most of all, made the Arabs nervous about who they will sell their oil to in the next few years if America has enough?
But what about OUR house? The gas company ran a line to about 1300 feet from my house and it stopped there. That was several years ago. I checked on the price to bring it to our house and the line is $10 per foot installed, or $13,000.
OK. Maybe not this year.
I kept checking every year. They give a credit on the fee for each customer the extension signs up. Extension to our house signs up 4 customers. After the credit, last year the remainder was $8,000.
OK. Maybe not this year.
I checked this year and they have increased the credit because they have so much gas to sell. Now the remainder is $464
