ICE CREAM

IT WAS ONLY 50 SOME DEGREES OUTSIDE TODAY . TO MARY AND ME THAT’S WINTER, BUT HERE IN LA CROSSE IT’S SPRING. I HAD THE SCOOTER OUT FOR AN URBAN RIDE AND ENDED UP DOWNTOWN ON PEARL STREET FOR MY ICE CREAM FIX.

THERE IS AN OLD FASHION ICE CREAM AND CANDY SHOP THAT I ALWAYS HAVE TO HIT FOR A BUTTERSCOTCH MALT.

BESIDES THE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM AND CANDIES THEY HAVE THE BATTER AND WAFFLE IRONS IN THE WINDOW WHERE THEY MAKE THE ICE CREAM CONES, ONE AT A TIME. I BET THE SCOOTER FINDS IT’S WAY BACK BEFORE THE END OF THE WEEK.

IT WAS FREEZING COLD TO US, BUT MARY HAD TO HAVE AN ICE CREAM FIX AS WELL AND WE WENT TO EDWARDO’S PIZZA WAGON FOR FRENCH FRIED CHEESE CURDS AND A GRASSHOPPER.  WHEN WE ORDERED THE CHEESE CURDS THE BARTENDER SAID A HALF AN ORDER WOULD DO US, AND I’M SORRY I DIDN’T GET A PICTURE, THERE WERE 10 FRIED CHEESE CURDS ON THE PLATE AND EACH ONE OF THEM WAS THE SIZE OF A GOLF BALL.

THROUGH OUT THE WEST WHEN YOU ORDER A GRASSHOPPER IT’S MADE OUT OF CRUSHED ICE AND CREAM INSTEAD OF ICE CREAM. MARY’S BEEN WAITING SINCE LAST YEAR FOR A REAL GRASSHOPPER MADE OUT OF REAL ICE CREAM.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO FIND A LONG URBAN HIKE TOMORROW TO WALK OFF OUR ICE CREAM FIX.

HERE IS SHOT OF THE YOUNGEST, MARY’S GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER, CECILIA.
