LAKE MEAD
THIS IS MIKE’S 3RD ANNUAL TRIP TO VEGAS FOR MARCH MADNESS, AND THIS YEAR WE DECIDED TO GET HIM OUTSIDE IN THE SUNSHINE AND DO SOME HIKING. AFTER THE WINTER HE’S HAD TO ENDURE AT HOME IN WISCONSIN, HE NEEDS SOME “SUNNY & 80”
MIKEY WAS AWARE OF THE PLAN AND EVEN SHOWED UP WITH A PEDOMETER IN HIS POCKET. HAVE YOU EVER WALKED 20,000 STEPS IN ONE DAY? WELL, NOW MIKEY HAS.
THE HIKE WAS ALONG LAKE MEAD ON AN OLD RAILROAD BED THAT WAS USED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF HOOVER DAM.
NOTICE THE WHITE BATHTUB RING AROUND THE LAKE AND ISLANDS? THAT’S AN INDICATION OF HOW LOW LAKE MEAD IS DUE TO THE DROUGHT IN THE SOUTHWEST.
ON THE HIKE WE’RE IN SEARCH OF SEVERAL OLD RAILROAD TUNNELS.
WE DIDN’T MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO HOOVER DAM, BUT WE DID ENJOY “SUNNY & 80”.
