DATA STORM

WRITTEN BY REX
Custom Smiley DATA STORM IS AN EXPENSIVE HARDWARE SYSTEM NEEDED TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET VIA SATELLITE. ON AN RV IT’S PRETTY MUCH A PUSH BUTTON OPERATION AND THE SATELLITE DISH SETS UP AND SEARCHES FOR THE PROPER SATELLITE IN THE SOUTHERN SKY, LOCKS ON, AND YOU HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION. MOST FULLTIMERS USE A ROUTER AND EACH HAVE A LAPTOP FOR INTERNET SURFING. WHEN WE GOT HOME FROM SPOONER ABOUT NOON I HAPPENED TO CLICK ON MY LAPTOP AND BINGO IT SAID IT WAS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. I LOOKED DOWN THE ROW OF CAMPERS FOR THE FAMILIAR SATELLITE DISH AND SURE ENOUGH I SPOTTED IT. WE ARE JUST ON THE FRINGES AND RECEIVE A LOW SIGNAL FROM THEIR ROUTER BY THE WINDOW. MOST PEOPLE THAT CAN AFFORD THIS SYSTEM ALSO HAVE A SECURE ROUTER TO LIMIT ACCESS TO THEIR INTERNET CONNECTION, BUT THIS COUPLE ARE USING AN UNSECURED ROUTER. SO WE HAVE INTERNET AT THE CAMPER, HOWEVER ILLEGAL THE CONNECTION IS.

SUMMER WEATHER MUST BE OVER FOR THIS WEEK AND MARY DECIDED IT WAS A HOMEMADE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP NIGHT, SO AFTER A TRIP TO THE MARKET WE ARE CHOPPING, BOILING, AND DICING AWAY.

OUR THANKS TO SPOONER FOR THEIR HOSPITALITY AND USE OF THE GUEST HOUSE. YOU’RE LUCKY WE DON’T LIVE CLOSER OR WE’D BE SEMI-PERMANENT RESIDENTS.
