HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

BY REX
Custom Smiley AS YOU SAW IN MY BLOG, I GOT MY FATHER'S DAY PRESENT EARLY FROM AMY. THE TGNRVA VIDEO HAS HAD 56 VIEWS ON "YOU TUBE", SO I KNOW A LOT OF YOU READERS HAVE ENJOYED IT TOO.

THE TGNRVA VIDEO HAS US BOTH TALKING ABOUT "BB'08" (BEACH BUMMING '08). THAT'S GOOD AND BAD. BAD BECAUSE WE'RE TRYING NOT TO THINK ABOUT THAT UNTIL THE NEW YEAR, BUT GOOD BECAUSE IT KEEPS US WORKING HARD, OFF THE THE EO (EARLY OUT) LIST AT WORK, AND SOCKING AWAY OUR MONEY IN THE TRAVEL FUND. THE TRAVEL FUND IS 44% COMPLETE TO DATE, AND A LONG WAYS TO GO.

HARD TO BELIEVE THAT LIVING THIS RV LIFESTYLE, WE LOOK FORWARD TO A SUPER VACATION EVERY TWO YEARS? YUP, THAT'S THE PLAN. "BB'08" LOOKS LIKE SEVERAL WEEKS AT HOME IN WISCONSIN AFTER LABOR DAY NEXT YEAR, AND THEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS ON THE GULF OF MEXICO. BEST NOT GET ME STARTED........................

WE WERE OFF LAST FRIDAY AND HEADED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. LAKE TAHOE (6250 ELEVATION) IS AN ALPINE LAKE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED BY MOUNTAINS THAT RANGE FROM 7200 FEET TO NEARLY 10,000 FEET. TO LEAVE LAKE TAHOE YOU MUST FIRST TRAVEL UP INTO THE MOUNTAINS AND OVER A MOUNTAIN PASS TO A VALLEY BELOW. BASICALLY LAKE TAHOE IS A BIG HOLE (CALLED A BASIN) IN THE MOUNTAINS. I CAN JUST HEAR UNCLE JOHNNY ASKING, "HOW CAN YOU STAND CAMPING IN THIS BIG HOLE?" LIKE HE DID MANY YEARS AGO AT DEVIL'S LAKE. FUNNY THE THINGS YOU REMEMBER .......

ANYWAY FRIDAY WE TRAVELED UP OVER ECHO PASS AND DOWN INTO THE VALLEY ON THE CALIFORNIA SIDE TO PLACERVILLE, CA. PLACEVILLE IS DOWN TO ABOUT 1000 FEET AND WHEN THE TEMPERATURE HIT 103 DEGREES WE WERE READY TO HEAD BACK INTO THE MOUNTAINS.

TODAY WAS THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE LAKE. A GRAND CELEBRATION DESIGNED TO BRING FOLKS INTO THE CASINOS , I'M SURE. THEY CLOSED OFF THE CASINO CORRIDOR, HAD LIVE MUSIC IN THE STREET, A BOAT PARADE, BOAT RACES, SUPER HIGH PAIR-A SAILING, AND EVEN AN OUTDOOR CONCERT WITH SAMMY HAGAR.

ENOUGH RAMBLING FOR ONE DAY...............
