HAPPY LABOR DAY

HOW FONDLY I REMEMBER THOSE FRANKVILLE DAYS AND THAT BIG YELLOW SCHOOL BUS COMING DOWN THE FRANKVILLE ROAD. AH...... THE DAYS GONE BY.

LABOR DAY MARKS THE PASSING OF ANOTHER SUMMER, UNLESS OF COURSE YOUR LIFE'S QUEST IS "SUNNY & 80" AND PERFECT CAMPING DAYS. IN THAT CASE LABOR DAY SIGNALS A MOVE FROM 6200 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL, IN THE MOUNTAINS, TO 4000 FEET IN THE VALLEY. SUMMER FOR US IN NEVADA DOESN'T REALLY END UNTIL DECEMBER, WHEN WE GET OUR BLUEJEANS OUT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THEN HEAD INTO THE NEXT SUMMER.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND HAS BEEN A BUSY TIME FOR THE SOUTH SHORE OF LAKE TAHOE, AND VERY WELCOME AFTER AN ECONOMICALLY SLOW SUMMER FOR THE CASINOS. THE OUTDOOR SUMMER CONCERT SERIES AT HARVEY'S FINISHED VERY STRONG WITH PERFORMANCES BY STEVIE WONDER, BEYONCE, AND TOBY KEITH.

MANY OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, AND COLLEGE STUDENTS DISAPPEARED FROM THE WORK SCHEDULE SO MARY AND I HAVE PICKED UP THE SLACK AND WORKED SIX DAYS IN A ROW DURING THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

BETWEEN LABOR DAY AND THE SKI SEASON IS CALLED THE "SHOULDER SEASON" AT THE CASINOS. BUSINESS SLOWS DOWN AND OUR HOURS AT WORK WILL DWINDLE AS WELL. MARY ONLY HAS THREE WEEKS LEFT TO WORK AND I SEE THE WISCONSIN LIST GROWING DAILY AS SHE ANTICIPATES HER THREE WEEKS AT HOME WITH HER MOM AND KIDS.

WE HOPE YOUR LABOR DAY WEEKEND HAS BEEN FUN FILLED AND SAFE!
