Pizza Party

Rex and I have been talking about pizza lately. The summer of 2006 we really got into grilled pizza and made them a lot. Not only during the summer but at Cheese Days in Monroe and Octoberfest in La Crosse and for our neighbors when we got back to Mohave Valley. In 2007 the pizza kind of went by the wayside because of our dieting. Pizza and dieting don't really mix well with us.

As I said, we have finally gotten real hungry for pizza.....so yesterday for some reason I mentioned to Steve, the neighbor, we were thinking about making pizza today. Well if you mention cooking to Steve ...he is in. About 10 minutes later he was over saying he had pizza dough in his bread machine. Oh I get it.....we are now on for pizza in a big way!! Not only are we having pizza.....we are having a pizza smörgåsbord!!

This is rolled out pizza dough.....thanks Steve for making the dough...you are making the day much easier!!

As you can see, there is no shortage of toppings for our pizza party!!

Mary is up first making two pizzas....a grilled shrimp, pesto, Monterey jack cheese, and feta cheese pizza...yum!! The other one I made was for Rex....ham, Alfredo sauce, mushroom, and swiss cheese.

This is a picture of the shrimp and pesto one and you can also see a little of the ham and Swiss cheese one. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing so we had to use Steve's inside grill rather than the Big gASS Grill we wanted to use. Oh well, being adaptable is part of our charm....

So now it was Steve's turn to make a couple of pizzas....he did a chicken, mushroom, onion, and cheese one. His other one was sausage, olive, cheese, mushroom, and onion. YUM!!

One of the drawbacks of grilled pizza is the lack of brown and crispy cheese on top so to correct that problem, my new toy is a torch...love it!!

This is a picture of one of Steve's creations, not only does it look good...it tasted great!!

One of our best taste testers was Rex's Mom, Jean. She liked them all and really enjoyed visiting with Steve and Meryl. Some of our other pizza creations were chicken, roasted garlic, green olive, blue cheese, and mozzarella cheese......also sausage, green olive, mushroom and mozzarella cheese. All in all we had a great time visiting and pizza creating. A very successful day off indeed!!
