FREEMONT STREET

FREEMONT STREET IS THE MAIN DRAG DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS, WHERE MARY AND I USUALLY STAY. YOU'VE SEEN IT LOT'S TIMES, ESPECIALLY IN THE OLD JAMES BOND AND ELVIS MOVIES. IN 1995 THEY (THE POWERS THAT BE), DECIDED TO MAKE FOUR BLOCKS A PEDESTRIAN WALK WAY, AND COVERED THE STREET WITH THE LARGEST SCREEN ON THE PLANET!

THE CANOPY SCREEN WHICH COVERS THE STREET IS 90 FEET TALL AND AS AS LONG AS FIVE FOOTBALL FIELDS (FOUR BLOCKS). THE SCREEN INCLUDES 12 MILLION LIGHTS WHICH A COMPUTER SYSTEM CONTROLS TO SHOW THE MOVING LIGHT SHOW. THE MUSIC IS PROVIDED BY A 550,000 WATT SOUND SYSTEM AND LOADS OF SPEAKERS ON THE STREET.

PEOPLE STAND OUT IN THE STREET AND ENJOY THESE SHOWS AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR NIGHTLY FOR FREE, AND MOST TAKE PHOTOS.

TODAY'S PHOTOS ARE TAKEN DURING THE DAY TO TRY AND SHOW YOU WHAT THE CANOPY LOOKS LIKE.

ALONG THE STREET THEY PROVIDE FREE ENTERTAINMENT. THIS SHOT SHOWS THE CROWD GATHERING FOR A FREE LIVE BAND PLAYING.

News update on Trader Joe's and Agri meat. Heard yesterday that Agri lost that account so that is probably why the meat cases were empty. Huge accout for them, bet there is a good story behind this.
