WEEK # 2
ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT ON THE LOWER MOHAVE DESERT. I TRY TO STICK MY NEW CAMERA IN MY SHORTS POCKET ON OUR DAYS OFF, BUT ALAS I HAVE REVERTED TO MY OLD WAYS, AND THE CAMERA SAT ON THE SHELF WHERE I SIT AT THE TABLE.
THE DAYS OFF LIST WAS RATHER LONG FOR TWO REASONS, FIRST WE WERE GONE TO VEGAS LAST WEEK ON OUR DAYS OFF AND SECOND, TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR THOSE THINGS WE PUT OFF.
COOKING WAS HIGH ON THE LIST AND YOU'VE ALREADY READ ABOUT MARY'S FIRE BEANS. SHE COOKED THOSE BEANS 8.5 HOURS OUTSIDE IN THE CROCK POT. ALSO ON THE MENU WAS PIZZA OFF THE GRILL. WE HAD BOUGHT A PACKAGE OF GARLIC AND HERB PIZZA CRUST AT TRADER JOES AND MADE HOME MADE PIZZA AND BREAD STICKS.
THE SECOND DAY OFF WE FILLED THE DUTCH OVEN WITH RIBS, AND SOMEBODIES SECRET SAUCE. THE SAUCE INCLUDED A POUND OF BACON ALL FRIED UP AND RUN THROUGH THE BLENDER. AS USUAL, ANYTHING WE COOK OVER CHARCOAL IN THE DUTCH OVEN COMES OUT WONDERFUL .......... OR IS THE COCKTAILS CONSUMED DURING THE COOKING TIME?
ANOTHER ITEM ON THE LIST WAS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ON THE AZ CAR. WHEN WE PUT IT INTO STORAGE FOR THE SUMMER WE NEED TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY, SO WE THOUGHT WE'D PRACTICE THE PROCEDURE AT HOME SO THAT WE HAVE IT DOWN PAT.
"WITH TOOLS IN HAND", YUP WE ALL KNOW THIS ISN'T GOING TO GO WELL......... AND IT DIDN'T!!! MY FRUSTRATIONS AND 95 DEGREE HEAT DID NOT MAKE FOR A PRETTY AFTERNOON PROJECT. MY THANKS TO STEVE, THE NEIGHBOR, FOR HANG'IN IN THERE WITH ME. MY THANKS TO MARY FOR A QUICK RUN TO ACE HARDWARE TO BUY ME AN 8MM BOX WRENCH. MY THANKS TO THE EMS CREW.........
NO, NO, I'M KIDDING ABOUT THE EMS CREW, BUT WHEN THE SPARKS FLEW LITERALLY UNDER HOOD SCREWING AROUND WITH THE BATTERY, THE EMS CREW WAS VERY MUCH ON MY MIND.
THE NEXT PROJECT WAS MUCH EASIER FOR ME, THE MOHAVE RV REPAIRMAN CAME TO REPAIR THE GAS SIDE OF THE HOT WATER HEATER. A NEW ELECTRONIC VALVE, NEW PRESSURE POP OFF VALVE, AND A NEW ANODE ROD PUT THE HEATER BACK IN SERVICE.
ALL IN ALL SOME PRODUCTIVE AND ENJOYABLE DAYS OFF. JUST TWO MORE WEEKS AND WE'LL BE SCRATCH'IN THAT HITCHITCH.

Rex, when are you going to give up and admit that would be easier, cheaper, and SAFER,to hire those tool jobs? It doesn't seem to be something you have knack for.
I'm glad it was a 8MM wrench and NOT a 8 MM Hand Gun!!!
