VEGAS LEFTOVERS
LAS VEGAS STORIES HAVE KINDA TAKEN OVER THE BLOG THIS WEEK, AND TODAY WILL WRAP IT UP. A COLLECTION OF A FEW LEFTOVER PICTURES I WANTED TO POST ON THE BLOG.
MARY REALLY LIKES THE FROSTED WINDOWS AT THE GOLDEN GATE CASINO, BUILT IN 1909. THE WINDOWS ARE NEW, BUT EXTREMELY HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH.
WHAT'S VEGAS WITHOUT A COUPLE SHOW GIRLS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ARE STILL IN THEIR WINTER COSTUMES.
NEVADA IS KNOWN FOR IT'S MINING HISTORY AND INDUSTRY. THIS MINER IS PERCHED ABOVE THE GIFT SHOP AT LAS VEGAS BOULEVARD AND FREEMONT STREET.
ANOTHER OF THE ATTRACTIONS ALONG FREEMONT STREET ARE THE RESTORED VINTAGE LAS VEGAS SIGNS OF THE 50'S AND '60'S. HERE IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE.
AT LUNCH WITH PAULIE, HE WAS TELLING US ABOUT A NEW BAR HE CAME ACROSS CALLED THE YARD HOUSE WHICH FEATURES 100 DIFFERENT BEERS ON TAP. PICTURED IS THE GLASSED IN WALK-IN COOLER SHOWING THE KEGS, AND THE OVERHEAD REFRIGERATED STAINLESS STEEL TUBES CARRYING THE BEER TO THE BAR. PRETTY COOL OPERATION.
WE TOOK A DIFFERENT ROUTE HOME THROUGH NIPTON, CA. AND THE JOSHUA TREE FOREST. NOW WHEN I THINK OF FOREST, I THINK OF YELLOW RIVER STATE FOREST, BUT I GUESS THIS AS A FOREST OF SORTS.
THE TREES ARE IN THEIR SPRING BLOOM. ISN'T THIS THE MOST INTERESTING DESERT BLOOM ?
HANS AND WENDY HAVE RETURNED FROM THEIR SPRING PILGRIMAGE TO BELIZE, SO YOU BELIZE FANS WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO.
