PORCH SAGA
I WAS TALKING TO AIM ON THE PHONE THE OTHER DAY AND SHE ASKED ABOUT THE PORCH SAGA? I DIDN’T REALLY THINK OF ADDING A PORCH TO MY CAMPER AS A SAGA, BUT LATER IN THE WEEK WHILE TALKING TO BUD ON THE PHONE HE ASKED ABOUT THE PORCH AS WELL.
THAT GOT ME TO THINKING ARE THE KIDS REALLY INTERSTED IN MY PORCH BUILDING PROJECT OR ARE THEY WORRIED THAT DAD IS JACKING UP THE CAMPER AND MAKING IT PERMANENT?
IF THERE IS ONE CONSTANT THING IN MY LIFE, IT’S BEEN CAMPING. IT STARTED WITH MY PARENTS AND THE OLD RED TENT, THEN SPENDING SUMMERS WORKING AT CANYON CAMP, A BLUE TENT FROM K-MART, THE SHADOW CRUISER TRUCK CAMPER, THE 19 FOOT DUTCHMAN, THE MONTANA, AND NOW THE MOUNTAINEER.
NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE HAPPY CAMPERS, WE’RE ALREADY LOOKING AT 28 FOOT CLASS C’S AND A DENTONATOR YELLOW JEEP AS A TOAD.
THINK OF THE MOUNTAINEER AND PORCH AS A PERMANT WINTER RETIREMENT PLACE ALONG THE COLORADO RIVER ON THE SUNNY ARIZONA DESERT.
NOW THE PORCH SAGA REPORT FOR THIS WEEK-END. NEXT COMES THE PAVERS, OR THE FLOOR. SINCE THE PORCH IS 10 FOOT BY 30 FOOT, AND THE CEMENT PATIO IS ONLY 6 FOOT BY 20 FOOT, THE REMANING FLOOR AREA NEEDS TO BE FILLED IN WITH CEMENT PAVERS, BACK BREAKING WORK FOR SURE.
THE PAVERS ARE BOXED IN BY 2X4’S TO KEEP THEM IN PLACE AND LAID ON A BED OF SAND TO ELEVATE THEM TO BE LEVEL WITH THE CEMENT SLAB.
A ROOF AND A FLOOR COMPLETED.
THE WHITE BOARDS IN THE PICTURE ABOVE ARE 2X4’S THEY HAVE PRE-PAINTED AND FRAMING WILL BE NEXT.
