Birds
We headed out today to go to the Sea Turtle Rescue Sanctuary. Got the car parked and everything…..OOPS it’s closed on Monday.
Fortunately for us The South Padre Island Birding & Nature Center was open!!
The center has an exhibit hall that explains the island eco system of the Gulf of Mexico, through the dunes on the beaches and into the Laguna Madre Bay.
The grounds are truly beautiful with lost of native plans and wildlife.
Hard to tell from this picture, but this part of the over 3,500 linear feet of boardwalks with numerous observation decks that allow visitors to watch and photo many different types of birds, fish, and lizards.
More of the boardwalk showing the observation decks.
This crane was nice enough to pose long enough to get a good picture. Many migratory birds stop over in South Padre on their way to South American for the winter. This is a truly beautiful and serene place to visit.
